Hello, hello, hello

My first projects were MySpace profiles for music bands. They were messy, scrappy, DIY—but they were real. They felt alive. Maybe that’s what hooked me: the sense that what we were building was a place where anyone could show up, say, ⋅..⋅ॱ˙This is me˙˙ॱ⋅..⋅ and be seen. Something healthy. Funny how that same sentence feels different today.

I’ve been doing design-, internet- and creative work for over 12 years. Over these years, I’ve worked on everything. I’ve collaborated with incredible people and brought more ideas to life than I can count (or invoice). But this year was different. It was my first year as a full-time freelancer. After countless late nights and endless problem-solving, I realized something important: I finally understand why I do this work.

I want to make the internet a better place.

It might sound silly. After all, the internet today is fast, loud, relentless—and everywhere. I’m just organizing, polishing one tiny corner out of zillions. It’s easy to feel small, like a Coen Brothers character looking up at a sky full of chaos and meaninglessness. But there’s power in smallness. In working slowly, deliberately, sustainably. In choosing collaboration over ego, and craft over speed. In building things designed to last.

I love tools that help people and moments of design that make someone pause and smile. I love the internet when it’s not just functional, but kind. Believing in this work feels beautiful—maybe especially now. It’s like standing in a field, staring at the sky, and deciding that even with the end of the world approaching, you’re going to plant something here.

So that’s what I’m doing. Planting, tending, creating. Still believing it’s worth the effort.
